Thanksgiving safety : electrical tips

Thanksgiving safety

by Brad Pollard on 11/18/13

With Thanksgiving approaching we want to make sure you and your loved ones stay safe this holiday season. Electrical safety is important in the kitchen, while working with and around small kitchen appliances. Make sure to manually test your GFCI receptacles in the kitchen area, you can do this by pushing the test button followed by pushing the reset button. Make sure the cords from your small appliances are out of reach of children, and not dangling from counters. Make sure your smoke alarms are working by pushing test, but how will you know they will really work in the event of a fire? Put them to the test with a smoke check spray, which you can pick this up at any home improvement store. In the meantime have a safe and wonderful holiday season.
